Carlos Beltrán to Enter Hall of Fame Wearing New York Mets Cap

Carlos Beltrán will officially enter baseball immortality with a New York Mets cap adorning his plaque at the National Baseball Hall of Fame this summer, the Hall announced Tuesday. This historic decision makes Beltrán only the third player ever to be enshrined as a Met, joining franchise legends Tom Seaver and Mike Piazza.

Over a 20-season MLB career that spanned seven teams, Beltrán carved out a legacy as one of the most dynamic two-way center fielders of his generation. However, it was his seven seasons with the Mets from 2005 to 2011 that stood out as the peak of his career. During that time, he earned five of his nine career All-Star selections and captured all three of his Gold Glove Awards. His offensive production remained elite—he ranks fifth all-time in Mets history with an .849 OPS and played a central role in the team’s memorable run to the 2006 National League Championship Series.

In a statement released by the Hall, Beltrán expressed gratitude to all the organizations he played for, including the Kansas City Royals, where he began his career and won the 1999 AL Rookie of the Year award, and the Houston Astros, with whom he claimed a World Series title in 2017. However, he emphasized that his “greatest individual growth and success” came during his years in Queens.

The Class of 2026 also includes Andruw Jones, who will wear the Atlanta Braves ‘A’ on his plaque. Jones spent 12 of his 17 MLB seasons with Atlanta and is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive outfielders in baseball history.

The induction ceremony will take place on July 26, 2026, at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, New York. For Mets fans, it will be a rare and celebrated moment to witness one of the franchise’s most iconic players join the most exclusive club in sports.
