Napoli confirm Alisson Santos hamstring blow on first game back from same injury

Napoli have confirmed that Alisson Santos suffered a medium-grade hamstring injury during his first match back from the exact same problem, handing the Brazilian attacker a frustrating recurrence of a setback he only recently overcame.

Recurrence of September injury

The 24-year-old picked up the problem towards the end of Saturday's 1-0 Serie A defeat away to Venezia — a result that shocked the division, as Venezia had not collected a single point in Serie A before this weekend. Santos reported for medical tests on Monday, and the club confirmed in a statement on its official website that he had sustained a medium-grade hamstring injury.

Worryingly for Napoli, it is the precise injury he picked up during a 1-0 Champions League defeat against Arsenal back in September. That earlier hamstring issue sidelined Santos for four matches across all competitions, with the absence stretching beyond a month because of an extended international break at the end of September and the beginning of October.

A brief return cut short

Santos had only just worked his way back into the matchday squad. Napoli named the attacker in their 22-man travelling party for the Venezia trip on October 16, alongside Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, as the Partenopei sought a response to a Champions League defeat by Villarreal.

According to FotMob data, Santos had made four Serie A appearances in the 2026-27 campaign, registering zero goals and zero assists, before this latest setback (snapshot fetched October 18).

Doubt for November fixtures

With the next international break officially beginning on November 9, it now appears unlikely that Santos will be able to feature for Napoli before the next Nations League matches.
