Williams unveil Doctor Doom-inspired livery at New York Comic Con as Marvel partnership deepens

Doctor Doom takes over the Williams livery

Williams have unveiled a special Doctor Doom-inspired livery, swapping their usual blue for the villain's trademark black and green colours as part of their ongoing collaboration with Marvel.

The striking design made its debut at New York Comic Con, where the team displayed a specially-liveried FW48 show car alongside superhero-inspired race suits and exclusive merchandise. The car was showcased as part of an immersive experience celebrating the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film, bringing together Formula 1 and one of the world's biggest entertainment franchises.

Neither Alex Albon nor Carlos Sainz will race with the design. Fans attending this weekend's United States Grand Prix can, however, see the livery up close at the Williams Fan Zone in Austin.

A superhero takeover at Comic Con

New York Comic Con, held from October 8-11, gave Williams a place among some of the biggest names in comics and entertainment. Visitors to the dedicated Williams experience inside Marvel's exhibition space could view comic book artwork, superhero-inspired race suits and interactive displays.

Up to 2,000 comics were printed with an exclusive New York Comic Con cover, and race-worn suits and boots belonging to Albon and Sainz were offered for purchase. Fans also had the chance to enter a competition to win one of the special Marvel-inspired race suits.

Next stop: Austin

The Marvel-inspired show car will be displayed at the Williams Fan Zone in downtown Austin between October 19 and 24, with a special Austin edition of the comic also available to buy. The Fan Zone will also feature appearances from Albon, Team Principal James Vowles, reserve driver Luke Browning and 1996 World Champion Damon Hill, alongside interactive racing experiences.
