The match's only goal arrived in first-half stoppage time. Brahim Diaz produced a moment of brilliance, chesting down a long throw from Andrii Lunin before slotting the ball home at the near post to beat goalkeeper Leo Roman.

Vinicius Junior captained the side and made his first start since committing to a new six-year contract, though Madrid struggled to find a rhythm early on. Efforts from Dean Huijsen and Denzel Dumfries went wide, while a neat flick from Endrick—following a dangerous Arda Guler free-kick—was successfully saved by Roman.

The victory ensured Real Madrid lifted the Teresa Herrera Trophy for the 10th time, their first win in the competition since 2013. This marks a bright start for the 'Special One', who is aiming to restore the club's dominance after two trophyless seasons.

Despite the result, Mourinho will be concerned by the lack of offensive spark in the absence of Kylian Mbappe. Madrid managed an expected goals (xG) total of just 1.09 from 13 shots.
