Crystal Palace sign Evann Guessand on season-long loan from Aston Villa

Return of the Conference League Hero

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of 25-year-old forward Evann Guessand on a season-long loan from Aston Villa. The move marks a return to Selhurst Park for the striker, who played a pivotal role in the club's recent European success.

Evann Guessand

Guessand previously spent the second half of the 2025-26 campaign with the Eagles, contributing two goals in 14 appearances and helping the team secure the Conference League title. In a rare feat, Guessand became the first player to win two different European trophies in a single season, having also featured in Aston Villa's Europa League triumph.

Ambitions for the New Season

Speaking to the club website, Guessand expressed his delight at returning to South London. "I'm so happy to be here," Guessand said. "I already have good memories here – but I think it's only the beginning. I hope many more are coming."

Reflecting on his previous stint, the Ivory Coast international added: "I enjoyed it a lot last season because we played in Europe... we played European football and had some good games, and some great nights at Selhurst Park. And of course, we finished with this amazing trophy."

Looking ahead to the 2026-27 campaign, Guessand believes the club can challenge at the highest level: "I want to go as far as possible. Firstly in Europe... and then for the Premier League as well, I think we can compete with the best teams in the league."

Building under Pierre Sage

Guessand becomes the fourth arrival under new manager Pierre Sage, joining new recruits Oscar Mingueza, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Dwight McNeil. The loan agreement includes an option for Palace to make the transfer permanent at the end of the deal.

Crystal Palace will begin their Premier League campaign on August 22 with an away trip to Everton.
