Rare NWSL player cards draw four-figure listings as collectibles market heats up

The Athletic's NWSL section has become a home not just for results, standings, scores, and rumors, but also for a growing corner of the soccer economy: the trading card market. Several standout player cards are currently listed for sale at premium price points, underscoring the rising demand for women's soccer collectibles.

Premium listings on the secondary market

Among the most eye-catching items is a 2000 Upper Deck UD Women's Major League Soccer card featuring USWNT and US Women's Major League Soccer legend Briana Scurry. The card, numbered #88 and graded PSA 10, is listed at $274.99.

Also drawing attention is a 2023 Parkside NWSL card of Penelope Hocking, described as a 'Promising Prospects' Gold Parallel rookie one-of-one, listed at $499.00. Hocking is one of the league's rising young names, and the rare parallel designation makes the card a sought-after piece for collectors.

The listings also include a 2022 Parkside NWSL Challenge Cup card featuring Phallon Tullis-Joyce of OL Reign, signed and numbered out of 100, listed at $299.99. Autographed cards of the Reign goalkeeper continue to hold strong value among NWSL collectors.

Rounding out the group is a 2025 Parkside Keepr NWSL card of Lilly Reale, designated as a Rookie of the Year Auto Award card, numbered 1/12 and featuring the Gotham FC defender. It is listed at $239.99.

More than cards: a daily puzzle for soccer fans

Beyond the marketplace, The Athletic's NWSL page also showcases 'Connections: Soccer Edition,' a new daily puzzle that asks players to group soccer terms that share a common thread, with a fresh challenge available every day. The feature joins The Athletic's broader coverage of the National Women's Soccer League, from results and standings to stats and transfer rumors.
