Hearts thrash St Mirren 5-0 in biggest Tynecastle league win since 2023
Hearts deliver five-goal Tynecastle rout
Hearts swept St Mirren aside 5-0 at Tynecastle, claiming their biggest home league win since April 2023 and keeping themselves in touch with Rangers and Celtic. The third-placed Jambos controlled the match and added to their status as the Scottish Premiership’s top scorers.

Laurent Mendy opened the scoring in the 19th minute, recovering after a miscued header and firing high past goalkeeper Jacob Chapman. Hearts doubled their advantage before the break when Calvin Miller converted a penalty after Josh McPake was fouled in the box.
Miller struck again from the spot five minutes into the second half after Liam Donnelly tripped James Wilson. Four minutes later, Miller turned provider, releasing Claudio Braga to round Chapman and score. McPake completed the rout in the 80th minute, finishing from close range after Hearts had continued to threaten.
Hearts look ahead to Europe
The result came ahead of Hearts’ home Conference League opener against Nordsjaelland on Thursday. Manager Wouter Vrancken praised his side’s proactive approach and said the performance could provide confidence for the coming run of matches. “People come to the stadium to see nice football, to see goals from your side,” he said.
St Mirren, meanwhile, suffered a fourth consecutive defeat. Manager Craig McLeish said his team had “shot ourselves in the foot” by giving away two penalties and cited individual errors for the other goals. He also noted that Niko Agrafiotis had been lost during the warm-up, forcing a reshuffle, but said the squad had to take responsibility.
