Daniel Bennie’s first-half strike sinks Hibernian on Reedijk’s debut
Bennie settles the contest at Tannadice
Marink Reedijk’s first match as Hibernian manager ended in defeat as Dundee United claimed a 1-0 Scottish Premiership victory at Tannadice. Daniel Bennie scored the only goal, helping United secure their first home league win of the season.

Hibernian had an early chance when Felix Passlack found Josh Mulligan, whose effort was blocked. United responded through Lyall Cameron and Jesse Randall, with goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger stopping Randall before making a stronger save from him in the 23rd minute.
Bennie had already sent a promising curling effort over the bar when he made the breakthrough in the 35th minute. Cameron lifted a cross into the box and Bennie bundled the ball home from close range.
Devaney dismissed after VAR review
Sallinger kept Hibs in the game after the interval, denying Randall again. Hibernian threatened through substitute Rabbi Matondo, but Bert Esselink intervened to halt the attack.
The match’s decisive late incident came in the 80th minute. Referee Don Robertson initially awarded United a penalty after Neil Farrugia went down following a challenge by substitute Jacob Devaney. After reviewing the incident at the pitchside monitor, he ruled the foul had taken place outside the area, changed the decision to a free-kick and sent Devaney off for a last-man challenge.
Hibernian pressed for an equaliser in added time, but Jack Walton made a low save to deny a late effort from Boyle. United moved up to fifth in the Premiership table, while Hibs remained 10th.
