Burnley seal season-long loan deal for Manchester City defender Max Alleyne

Burnley have completed the signing of Manchester City centre-back Max Alleyne on a season-long loan deal as the Clarets target an immediate return to the Premier League.

Max Alleyne signs for Burnley on loan

The 21-year-old England Under-21 international spent the first half of last season on loan in the Championship with Watford before being recalled to the Etihad Stadium during a defensive injury crisis. Alleyne went on to make seven senior appearances under Pep Guardiola, including outings in both legs of the EFL Cup semi-final against Newcastle United and a Champions League appearance against Bodo/Glimt.

During his stint at Vicarage Road, Alleyne impressed with his defensive solidity, recording the second-most tackles (20) among Watford defenders in league fixtures, while winning 72 duels and registering 76 clearances.

'A Premier League team'

Speaking after finalizing his move to Turf Moor, Alleyne expressed his delight at joining the Lancashire club.

"I'm super excited, I can't wait to get going," Alleyne told Burnley's official website. "I had my first training session today and I've really enjoyed it so far, meeting the manager and my teammates."

"I first heard of the interest a couple of months ago now and I'm so glad it got done. It's a huge team, a Premier League team to be honest and I'm so buzzing to be here."

Burnley, who were relegated from the top flight last season, kick off their new Championship campaign at Turf Moor. The Clarets boast a strong record at home, remaining unbeaten in their last 24 Championship fixtures at Turf Moor (15 wins, 9 draws) dating back to April 2023.
