A British cricketer, Jamie Spence, has tragically lost his life in a car accident in New Zealand. The 28-year-old was killed on April 29 near Kinleith on New Zealand’s North Island in a crash that also claimed the life of another man, Raphael Jean-Gabriel Roellinger, a French national.

Hull Strikers Mourn the Loss of a Passionate Teammate

Jamie, who hailed from Yorkshire, was a member of the Hull Strikers, a local cricket club. The club has described him as one of the most energetic and passionate players they have ever had. In a heartfelt tribute, the club said: “A true member of the Strikers family from the very beginning, Jamie was our youngest, yet one of the most energetic, fun-loving, and passionate souls on and off the field.”

Just days after Jamie’s passing, the Hull Strikers played their scheduled match against Hessle CC with only 10 players and won by seven runs. The team dedicated the victory to Jamie. The club described the moment as “special and emotional” for everyone involved, especially with Jamie’s father, Jon, in attendance.
