Police Arrest Two for Brutal Attack on History-Sheeter in Nellore
Police in Nellore have arrested two men following a brazen attempt to murder a history-sheeter at Nawabpet, an incident that triggered panic among local residents.
The victim, identified as Marlapati Pradeep, a resident of Porlukatta, was returning home from a temple in an autorickshaw when he was intercepted by his rivals. The assailants reportedly threw chilli powder directly into his face to blind and disorient him before launching a violent assault, slitting his throat with a knife and immediately fleeing the scene.
Arrests Made Near Penna Bridge
Following a formal complaint lodged by Pradeep’s mother, the Nawabpet police registered an attempt-to-murder case and launched an immediate manhunt. Officers tracked down and arrested two suspects, identified as 31-year-old Mannepalli Sunil and 28-year-old Mannepalli Sai, near the old check post close to the Penna bridge.
According to investigators, the accused held a long-standing grudge against Pradeep connected to a previous murder and had been waiting for an opportune moment to strike.
Both suspects were produced before a local court and remanded in judicial custody. Meanwhile, Pradeep was rushed to the Nellore Government General Hospital for emergency medical treatment, where his condition is currently reported to be stable.
