Raphinha is closing in on a place among Barcelona's most iconic Brazilian forwards, with the winger-turned-striker now just five goals short of overtaking club legend Ronaldinho in the Blaugrana's all-time goalscoring charts.

The milestone chase comes fresh off a spectacular opening to the campaign from the Brazil international. Repurposed as a centre-forward by Barça boss Hansi Flick, Raphinha has responded in remarkable fashion, establishing himself as arguably the standout performer in world football at present.

Across just eight appearances in La Liga and the Champions League this season, the former Leeds United man has found the net an astonishing 14 times — a strike rate that has propelled him up Barcelona's historical scoring list at rapid speed.

According to Marca, Ronaldinho racked up 94 goals during his legendary stint at the Camp Nou. Raphinha, now 29, has already managed 89 goals in Catalunya's capital, leaving him just five shy of the one-time Ballon d'Or winner's total.

Upon overtaking Ronaldinho, Raphinha would then sit behind only Neymar Jr and Evaristo — who each scored 105 times for the club — and all-time leader Rivaldo, with 130 goals, on the list of Barcelona's highest-scoring Brazilian players.

With the goal tally rising game by game, it now looks only a matter of time before the 29-year-old climbs past his fellow countryman and continues his march towards the very top of the list of Barça's greatest Brazilian scorers.
