Neville, a celebrated member of Manchester United's fabled 'Class of '92', humorously questioned his own inclusion while advocating passionately for Robson. "How can I be in the Hall of Fame and he’s not in the Hall of Fame? That is a travesty, that. Can I give you my medal?" Neville quipped, underscoring his deep admiration for the former Red Devils captain.

A Champion's Plea for a Legend

Bryan Robson's legacy at Manchester United is undeniable. As the club's longest-serving captain, his career boasts two league titles, 461 appearances, and 99 goals. Robson is also an inaugural inductee into the English Football Hall of Fame, making Neville’s sentiment for his inclusion in the Premier League equivalent understandable and widely supported by fans and pundits alike.

Ferguson's Resounding Endorsement

Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary manager under whom Neville thrived, also shared his delight at the induction. Ferguson lauded Neville's unwavering dedication and remarkable achievements throughout his career. "His dedication to improving himself and to being the best player he could led him to playing more than 600 times for his club, collecting eight Premier League titles, and playing 85 times for England. I am delighted for Gary; it’s a well-earned recognition of a fine career at the highest level," Ferguson stated.

Neville's Enduring Legacy

Gary Neville's own career at Manchester United spanned an impressive 19 years, during which he remained a devoted one-club man. Following Roy Keane's departure, he embraced the captain's armband, further solidifying his leadership role. His accolades include five selections in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year and two UEFA Champions League titles. Widely regarded as one of the Premier League's greatest fullbacks, Neville formed an iconic and formidable partnership with David Beckham on the right flank.

The Premier League Hall of Fame: Criteria and Future Inductions

Neville's induction makes him the 25th player to join the prestigious Premier League Hall of Fame. A celebratory event is scheduled for November 4 to honor his contributions. The Hall of Fame is set to announce one more inductee this year from a distinguished shortlist that features several Manchester United legends, including Michael Carrick, Patrice Evra, Teddy Sheringham, Michael Owen, and Edwin van der Sar.

To be eligible for this esteemed honor, players must meet specific criteria: a minimum of 200 Premier League appearances for a single club, selection in a Premier League Team of the Decade or 20-Year Anniversary team, winning a Golden Boot or Golden Glove award, being voted Premier League Player of the Season, or securing three Premier League titles. Goalkeepers also have a distinct pathway, requiring 100 Premier League clean sheets to qualify.
