Pakistan's England nightmare deepens: 11 WTC points docked and half of match fees gone after 3-0 whitewash

England's 3-0 whitewash leaves Pakistan counting the cost: WTC points docked, match fees halved

Pakistan's tour of England has gone from bad to worse. Having already been swept 3-0 by a struggling England side — with a telling statistical chasm, 15 against 3.33, underlining just how one-sided the contest was — the tourists have now been hit hard in the points table and the pocket.

Pakistan have been docked 11 World Test Championship points and fined 50 per cent of their match fees, deepening what has rightly been described as an England nightmare.

The response back home has been immediate. Star batter Babar Azam, who endured a torrid time against England, is now set to play his first domestic first-class match in seven years — a striking indication of how seriously Pakistan's cricket establishment is taking the fallout.

Not every returnee brought bad news, though. Salman Ali Agha answered the England setback in the most emphatic fashion available, compiling a maiden triple century that he described as a "once in a lifetime" experience.

Amid the gloom, there was one heartwarming moment: young Razaullah, whose fearless batting at Edgbaston was one of the few bright spots of the tour, received a hero's reception as the squad arrived home.

England great Joe Root played his part too, with his warm words about the youngster's Edgbaston display leaving Razaullah delighted. Root called the fearless show a "great source of happiness."
