Zandvoort hosts its final scheduled Dutch Grand Prix

Formula 1 returns from its summer break with a Sprint weekend at Zandvoort from August 21 to 23. This will be the final Dutch Grand Prix after the event was not renewed beyond 2026, giving the home crowd a potentially last chance to watch Max Verstappen compete at the circuit.

Verstappen is still searching for his first victory of the season, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli aims to preserve his advantage over Ferrari team-mates Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Antonelli leads Hamilton by 50 points and Russell by 59, but the title race could shift quickly if Ferrari’s upgrades deliver a stronger second half of the season.

McLaren also enters the weekend with serious prospects. Lando Norris won the most recent race at the twisty Hungaroring, while Oscar Piastri won last year’s Dutch Grand Prix. Piastri will be looking to rediscover the form that produced his most recent Formula 1 victory.

A fast, technical circuit

Zandvoort is popular with drivers because of its high-speed corners and banked turns, including Turn 3 and the flat-out final corner. Overtaking can be difficult, however, with only one major straight leading to Turn 1, making qualifying and track position particularly important.

Cooler conditions are expected across the weekend, with temperatures reaching the low 20s and a possibility of light showers.

Dutch GP schedule

• Friday, August 21: Practice at 11.30am; Sprint Qualifying at 3.30pm.
• Saturday, August 22: Sprint at 11am; Grand Prix Qualifying at 3pm.
• Sunday, August 23: Dutch Grand Prix at 2pm.
