In a historic display of talent, 15-year-old left-handed opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has scripted a new chapter in international cricket. The teenage prodigy became the first player in men's international history to register multiple scores of 50 or more before turning 16, capping off India's dominant 3-0 series sweep of Zimbabwe in Harare.

A Record-Breaking Performance

Sooryavanshi's breakout series included scores of 50, 20, and a match-winning 81 in the three-match series. His effort in the final T20I, where he scored 81 off 48 balls, earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards. This achievement makes him the youngest player to ever win either award in men's internationals.

Previously, only Nepal's Kushal Malla had recorded a single 50-plus score before the age of 16, but Sooryavanshi has now surpassed that mark with two such innings. In the final match, he showcased a mature approach on a slow wicket, starting cautiously before unleashing his trademark strokeplay, including a massive 102-metre six off Sikandar Raza.

"Yes, it's truly a dream come true moment. Getting my first Man of the Match and Man of the Series awards, I'm very happy," Sooryavanshi remarked after the clash. "Everyone backed me - the captain, the coaches, everyone - so I'm very happy."

Coaching Praise and Future Outlook

India's stand-in coach, VVS Laxman, praised the teenager's maturity and ability to adapt to challenging conditions. Laxman highlighted that Sooryavanshi's growth was evident in how he handled a used, slow wicket in Harare, noting that he possesses the "attitude and the mindset to get better each and every day."

Laxman also noted that the youngster's resilience was forged during a tough introduction to international cricket in England, where he faced the pace and bounce of Jofra Archer. However, the coach emphasized that development is ongoing, stating, "One of the areas which we want him to get better and work on is his overall fitness."

Team Dynamics and Contrasting Fortunes

While Sooryavanshi flourished, other members of the squad faced mixed results. Opening partner Abhishek Sharma continued a lean run, scoring just 2 in the final match, adding to a string of low scores dating back to the tour of England. Conversely, Ishan Kishan (29), Shreyas Iyer (27), and Rinku Singh (25) provided valuable contributions to help India reach a total of 192/5.
