PSV end poor opening-game record with 1-1 draw against Shakhtar through Dest
PSV rescue a point
PSV came from a goal down to draw 1-1 at home to Shakhtar Donetsk and end a woeful record in their opening matches of Champions League campaigns. The Dutch club had lost their opening fixtures in their last five Champions League appearances and trailed at half-time.
Right near the end of a cagey first half, Gleiker Mendoza cut in from wide and sent a stunning low shot beyond the dive of Matej Kovar. PSV responded immediately after the break as the ball was fed across the area to Sergiño Dest, who calmly found the bottom corner with an inch-perfect shot.
