Ferran Torres Hat-Trick Fires PSG to 6-1 Champions League Rout of Slovan Bratislava

Ferran Torres Shines on European Debut for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain launched their Champions League title defence in devastating fashion, cruising to a 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava at the Parc des Princes. Ferran Torres, making his first start for the club, stole the headlines with a hat-trick, while Ousmane Dembele delivered a masterclass with two goals and two assists.

Dembele Sets the Tone Early

PSG came out of the blocks flying. After just three minutes, Dro Fernandez nearly rewarded the hosts' fast start but saw his effort saved by the onrushing Dominik Takac. The breakthrough came in the 17th minute when Nuno Mendes' thunderous strike from distance cannoned off the right post, and Dembele was on hand to tuck home the rebound.

Six minutes later, Dembele doubled the lead, nodding in Fernandez's deflected shot at the back post after Sahmkou Camara's loose pass was ruthlessly punished. In the 31st minute, Ferran Torres poked home from close range to make it 3-0, and Dembele nearly completed a first-half hat-trick only for Takac to tip his effort onto the crossbar.

Torres Completes His Hat-Trick

PSG tightened their grip just two minutes after the break when Torres curled in a superb effort from just outside the box, set up by a sensational run from Maghnes Akliouche. The Spaniard completed his hat-trick shortly after, instinctively turning in Dembele's quick corner.

Slovan managed a consolation goal when Suleiman Camara skipped past Illia Zabarnyi and picked out the top-right corner, but PSG were not finished. Mika Godts and Senny Mayulu both came close before Fabian Ruiz struck three minutes from time, finishing first time into the bottom-left corner after a short corner routine involving Godts and Fernandez.

Historic Night for Torres

Ferran Torres became just the ninth Spanish player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League. He is also the first player to net a hat-trick on their debut in the competition since Robert Lewandowski did so for Barcelona against Viktoria Plzen in September 2022.

Dembele, meanwhile, became the third PSG player to score two or more goals and provide two or more assists in a single Champions League game, following in the footsteps of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

PSG Put Ligue 1 Woes Behind Them

The emphatic win was a welcome relief for Luis Enrique's side, who have endured a sluggish start to their Ligue 1 campaign. PSG have failed to win any of their first three top-flight matches of a season (D2 L1) for the first time since 2012-13.

In the Champions League, however, they have been imperious. The Parisians have now won their last five Champions League opening matches by an aggregate score of 15-2, and they scored six goals on Matchday 1 for the first time in their history.

PSG finished with a mammoth expected goals (xG) total of 4.71 from 35 shots, compared to Slovan's 0.64 from nine attempts. Luis Enrique will be hoping this commanding performance provides momentum heading into their Ligue 1 clash against Brest this Sunday.
