Pocognoli reveals Scotland blueprint: 'Attack together and defend like brothers'

Sébastien Pocognoli has outlined his blueprint for his new era in charge of Scotland, demanding that his side play with unity, tactical adaptability, and a collective fighting spirit where they attack as a unit and "defend like brothers."

Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, the manager opened up on the challenge of rapidly shaping his squad ahead of a crucial four-game window. With fresh faces stepping into the senior international setup, Pocognoli highlighted the importance of building consistency, dressing-room connections, and shared responsibility from day one.

"Attack together, defend like brothers," Pocognoli emphasized as the cornerstone of his tactical and cultural philosophy. The head coach explained that while his ambition is to implement an attractive, proactive brand of football, maintaining the defensive resilience required to secure major tournament qualification remains paramount.

Tactical flexibility will play a key role as Pocognoli seeks to give uncapped players their opportunities while establishing strong foundations ahead of an opening test against Slovenia. With excitement building ahead of his first home fixture, the manager expressed a mixture of anticipation and responsibility in leading the nation into its next chapter.

Pocognoli also revealed details of a handover conversation with former Scotland manager Steve Clarke, who offered valuable advice and insights into steering the national side through a transition to a new generation.
