India target series sweep against Sri Lanka in decisive Colombo Test
India will aim to complete a clean sweep in their two-match Test series against Sri Lanka when the two sides meet for the second and final Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo from August 23 to 27.
The visitors hold an unassailable 1-0 advantage following a commanding 165-run win in the series opener at Galle. Sri Lanka, led by Dhananjaya de Silva, face an uphill task on home soil as they look to level the series against a confident Indian side captained by Shubman Gill.
Galle Recap: Padikkal, Suthar Power Dominant Win
India established control in the opening Test courtesy of Devdutt Padikkal's maiden Test hundred, an impressive 167 that steered the visitors to a first-innings total of 462. Sri Lanka replied with 284 before India added 193 in their second innings to set a stiff target of 372 runs.
Sri Lanka's chase faltered as spinner Manav Suthar delivered a match-winning bowling performance, claiming 6 for 55 in the second innings to finish with a 10-wicket haul for the match, restricting the hosts to 206.
