Barcelona and Manchester United split over Balde transfer terms

Barcelona and Manchester United are reportedly at odds over the structure of a potential deal for Alejandro Balde, with the Spanish club favouring a permanent transfer while the Premier League side would prefer a loan.

According to ESPN, Manchester United have held preliminary discussions with Balde’s representatives as they continue to look for reinforcements at left-back. The club’s initial preference is understood to be a loan move for the 22-year-old defender.

Barcelona, however, are not currently interested in sanctioning that arrangement. The Catalan club would reportedly rather sell Balde outright, targeting a fee of between €30 million and €40 million so the proceeds can be reinvested in another defender.

Balde’s future has become a major talking point in Barcelona after reports suggested he could leave before the summer transfer window closes. His omission from Hansi Flick’s squad for the club’s La Liga opener against Elche added further uncertainty around his situation.

For now, the disagreement over the deal’s structure remains a significant obstacle. Manchester United are waiting for developments, while Barcelona’s preference for a permanent transfer sets a considerably different framework from the loan proposal reportedly being considered at Old Trafford.
