Borussia Dortmund turn Times Square into street soccer arena for charity
Borussia Dortmund bring street soccer to the heart of New York
Borussia Dortmund helped transform the heart of New York City into a street soccer arena on Saturday, teaming up with Street Soccer USA — a non-profit organisation that uses football to fight poverty — for the 14th annual Times Square Cup.
The Bundesliga giants turned one of the world's most famous intersections into a playing field, drawing hundreds of young players, football personalities, influencers, community leaders and spectators to the event.
The Times Square Cup served as one of the featured stops on the new BVB World Street Series, presented by CSTS. The series previously appeared in Los Angeles in April and Tokyo in July, with New York now added to the growing global roster of host cities.
Through the partnership with Street Soccer USA, Dortmund lent their global brand to a cause aimed at tackling homelessness and poverty through the power of the game, bringing the club's community outreach to an international stage in the shadow of some of the planet's most recognisable billboards.
