Holmberg's 95th-minute equaliser rescues Arsenal in frustrating home draw with Manchester United

Arsenal rescued at the death as low-block problem returns

Arsenal's struggle to turn dominance into goals shows no sign of abating. After failing to find a way through Crystal Palace's backline last time out, the Gunners were again frustrated at home on Saturday, dominating possession and territory against Manchester United only to need Smilla Holmberg's 95th-minute equaliser to make it 1-1 and spare themselves defeat.

Renée Slegers was asked after the match how her team can convert their control of the ball and territory into more goals, and the Arsenal manager pointed to a range of small failures rather than one obvious cause.

"It's not one thing, it's a combination of things," Slegers said. "It's a cocktail of things, there are some details in decision making, some details in the technical execution. It's also the ruthlessness in front of goal but I know the players want it and they want to do that, they want to execute for Arsenal."

The draw leaves Arsenal sixth in the early table on five points from three matches, four points behind leaders Manchester City and with the growing sense that a side with their territorial control should be picking up more than this.
