Villa’s unfinished stand raises questions as home win remains elusive
Villa Park still awaits a first win
Aston Villa’s home form has yet to deliver a victory this season after a 2-2 draw with Brentford. The club’s North Stand is being rebuilt, a project expected to take Villa Park’s capacity beyond 50,000 but leaving the ground temporarily with one side incomplete.
Unai Emery understands the importance of making the stadium a fortress, while Brentford head coach Keith Andrews said playing at a ground with a stand missing “just feels wrong”. Andrews also described Villa Park as a special venue because of its history.
Another opportunity ahead
Villa had another chance to break their home-winnless run with a Champions League fixture against Fenerbahce scheduled for Wednesday. The rebuilding work provides a visible change around the club, but results at home remain the immediate concern.
