De Zerbi sees signs of Spurs progress after chaotic draw at Manchester United
Spurs find resilience at Old Trafford
Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United was messy, but Roberto De Zerbi found reason for optimism in his side’s energy and determination. Spurs threatened despite being down to 10 men, and Dominic Solanke scored a late equaliser to reward their persistence.
De Zerbi said Tottenham had played “without this blood, this character” for a long time and that he wanted to see those qualities return. The visitors had also missed chances during an energetic first half, when they put pressure on United.
Work remains for De Zerbi
The result did not provide a definitive measure of Tottenham’s progress, given United’s own struggles in the contest. De Zerbi described the team as a work in progress and urged his players to build their relationships away from the pitch as well as on it: “Work together, stay together, have dinner together and get to know each other better.”
For Spurs, the draw offered a foundation rather than a breakthrough: a point earned through effort, but with plenty still to improve.
