Lewis Hamilton Celebrates Breakthrough Performance with Ferrari in Canada
Lewis Hamilton has signaled a turning point in his tenure with Ferrari, securing a second-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix. This marks one of his strongest weekends since joining the Italian outfit ahead of the 2025 season, following a challenging debut year where he failed to secure a single podium across 24 events.
'Moving Mountains' Behind the Scenes
The seven-time World Champion credited a massive effort from the Ferrari team and his own willingness to adapt to the 2026 regulations to achieve the result. Hamilton described the process of reaching this performance level as an arduous journey.
"I can’t even begin to explain how deep I’ve had to dig to be able to get to this point, and the work and moving mountains in the background to enable this sort of performance," Hamilton remarked.
Strategic Changes and Team Support
Hamilton attributed his improved pace to several key changes, including a departure from the standard use of the Ferrari simulator and a new engineering dynamic. He praised his new-for-2026 Race Engineer, Carlos Santi, and Team Principal Fred Vasseur for their unwavering support.
"I chose a different set-up this weekend, just ciphering through the data, working really well with my engineer... Fred’s been super supportive, and again, also moving mountains in order to make me comfortable," Hamilton explained.
Championship Standings
The podium finish in Montreal puts Hamilton in a strong position in the Drivers' standings, currently sitting fourth with 72 points, just three points behind teammate Charles Leclerc (75). Meanwhile, Ferrari continues to be a powerhouse in the competition, holding second place in the Teams' battle.
