Ingredients for High-Protein Sprout Chaat

Looking for a healthier twist on your favorite chaat? Ditch the fried papdi and samosas for this protein-packed instant sprout chaat. It's simple, flavorful, and ready in minutes using readily available sprouts.

Fresh ingredients for sprout chaat including sprouts, vegetables, and spices

What you'll need:

  • 1 cup mixed sprouts (moong, moth, or chana)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp cucumber, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp boiled potato, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1–2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp roasted cumin powder
  • ½ tsp chaat masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Sev or roasted peanuts for garnish

Step-by-Step Preparation

This recipe serves 2-3 people and takes about 20 minutes to prepare.

  1. First, steam the mixed sprouts in 1.25 cups of water for 10-15 minutes until tender but still crisp.
  2. While the sprouts steam, prepare the vegetables: finely chop the onion, tomato, cucumber, green chilli, and boiled potato.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the steamed sprouts with all the chopped vegetables.
  4. Sprinkle in the salt, roasted cumin powder, and chaat masala. Gently toss everything together to mix evenly.
  5. Add lemon juice and taste; adjust seasoning if needed for that perfect tangy balance.
  6. Just before serving, garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves and a handful of sev or roasted peanuts for crunch.

Serve immediately and enjoy this nutritious, high-protein chaat as a snack or light meal. It's loaded with fiber, vitamins, and plant-based protein to keep you energized!
