Bromley end Huddersfield's unbeaten start to seal first League One win
Ravens' resilience rewarded against the Terriers
Bromley ended Huddersfield Town's unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 victory at the Copperjax Community Stadium — their first league win since the opening day of the 2026-27 campaign.
It has been a bruising introduction to the third tier for a club experiencing League One football for the first time in their history. Three straight defeats and 14 goals conceded had tested Andy Woodman's squad to the limit, but their response against the division's form team underlined both character and quality.
"For Bromley, it is sometimes easy to lose sight of where they have come from, how quickly they have got here, and the jump that exists between League Two and the top end of League One. It is really, really tough for newly-promoted teams and it is going to take time to adapt," said Aaron McLean.
"To come out winners against Huddersfield who were the form team in the division will do them the world of good. It shows they have the character and the belief in the dressing room that even on the back of a run of defeats they can go again, and compete and get positive results against teams of the size of Huddersfield.
"Andy Woodman will be absolutely delighted. For a club of Bromley's size and where they have been, consolidation in League One will surely be the goal this season and these three points will go a long way to helping achieve that."
Consolidation the priority for newly-promoted Bromley
McLean's verdict is that survival and consolidation are the realistic aims for Bromley in their debut League One season. Saturday's scalp, secured against the division's form team, is exactly the kind of result that can carry a newly-promoted dressing room through the tougher weeks still to come.
