Taylor Swift set to perform at Academy Museum Gala as Toy Story 5 song enters Oscar conversation
Taylor Swift to close Academy Museum Gala
Taylor Swift is set to perform at the Academy Museum Gala on October 17, according to reporting by Variety cited by the Times of India. The fundraising event will take place at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Specifics of Swift’s appearance have not yet been announced.
Fans are anticipating that Swift could perform “I Knew It, I Knew You,” described in the report as her song for Toy Story 5. The track could earn the singer-songwriter her first Academy Award nomination, though no nomination has been announced.
Three filmmakers to be honoured
Academy Museum director and president Amy Homma welcomed Swift’s participation, saying: “Taylor is an extraordinary talent whose work resonates around the world. We are thrilled to welcome her to this year's gala and look forward to her performance to close a wonderful evening of honouring three extraordinary filmmakers and supporting the Academy Museum's mission to celebrate and preserve cinema.”
Charlize Theron is due to receive the Icon Award, Colman Domingo the Vantage Award and John Carpenter the Luminary Award. Co-chaired by Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, the gala raises funds for the museum’s exhibitions, screenings and educational programmes. Proceeds are intended to support its public programming and help keep the museum accessible to visitors.
Swift’s latest public appearance mentioned in the report was at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she received the inaugural Artist-Director Award and premiered “Patient Zero,” a music video she directed featuring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell.
