FC Barcelona have called off a scheduled closed-doors friendly against Preston North End, which was set to take place on Monday as the final fixture of their training camp in England.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, the decision was made by Hansi Flick’s coaching staff after Preston informed the Catalan club that they could only provide an under-21 squad. The English Championship side was reportedly hampered by several injuries within their first team, leading Flick to conclude that the level of competition would not provide a sufficient test for his players.

As a result, the squad will replace the match with a standard training session on Monday afternoon. This change in schedule has also accelerated the team's return journey; rather than traveling late Monday night following an evening game, the Blaugrana will head back to Catalonia immediately after their training session, arriving home on Monday night.

The squad is expected to resume training at their usual base in the Catalan capital on Wednesday. This marks the final phase of preparation before the team travels to Italy for a three-way tournament featuring Udinese and Nottingham Forest this coming weekend.
