Salam, Ostwal and Tyagi drafted as net bowlers for Japan-bound India squad ahead of Asian Games
Rasikh Salam Dar, the former Jammu & Kashmir bowler who now plays for Baroda and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Maharashtra's Vicky Ostwal — also with RCB — and Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata Knight Riders' Kartik Tyagi have been picked by the national selectors as unofficial members of the Japan-bound Indian contingent.
The trio, aged 26, 24 and 25 respectively, have been attached as net bowlers to the Shreyas Iyer-led side that will take part in the Asian Games and play a bilateral T20I fixture against the home side, Japan. They are believed to have left New Delhi for Tokyo on Saturday (September 19) night.

Practice before the fireworks
The Indian team will have a practice session on September 21 at Sano International Stadium before the bilateral fixture against Japan the next day. The side will then stay on in Sano for a few more days before travelling to Nagoya for the Asian Games, where their first match is scheduled for September 28.
During the stay in Sano, the three additional members will be needed for practice sessions — a necessity after the main side shrank to just 14 members. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was originally included in the Asian Games squad, was withdrawn and added to the ODI side for the home series against the West Indies.
ODI squad told to assemble in Trivandrum
Meanwhile, the Indian squad for the three ODIs against the West Indies has been asked to report on September 23. The 15-member Shubman Gill-captained side will assemble in Trivandrum that day, with the first ODI on September 27 and subsequent fixtures in Guwahati (September 30) and New Chandigarh (October 3), before the five-match T20I series starts in Lucknow on October 6.
