Four-goal Spurs surge thrash Aston Villa to close gap on leaders Man City

Spurs surge to victory against Villa

Tottenham surged to a 4-0 win against Aston Villa following a dominant second-half performance to keep within touching distance of Manchester City at the top of the table. The victory moves Spurs within two points of the league leaders with 10 points from their opening four games.

Villa, who sit in 13th, kept their opponents at bay before the break but the floodgates would open following Victoria Pelova's opener in the 54th minute. The 27-year-old doubled the lead with a curling effort soon after before Caitlin Dijkstra's back post header and Cathinka Tandberg on the rebound put the game out of reach.
