Barcelona say Pedri's solo training is precautionary, not injury-related
Barcelona have moved to reassure fans about Pedri's status after the midfielder was seen training away from his team-mates during the first week of pre-season. A club update has confirmed that the Spanish international is following a specific program and has not yet commenced full training with the squad.
Pedri returned to Barcelona this week alongside his Spain team-mates after a summer that ended with World Cup glory. However, the coaching staff have opted to ease him back in gradually. According to Mundo Deportivo, he was advised to start pre-season in the gym for "purely physical preparation reasons" before progressing onto the grass, which he has now done.
The club have insisted that this is not injury-related, easing concerns around one of their most important players. After this weekend's friendly against FC Basel on Sunday and the Joan Gamper trophy on Wednesday, Barcelona open their 2026-27 La Liga campaign next Sunday away at Barcelona.
