MS Dhoni urges Gen Z to put down the fast food and get moving
Dhoni’s advice to younger generations: make movement part of daily life
Former India captain MS Dhoni has urged Gen Z and Gen Alpha to pay closer attention to their health, encouraging young people to stay active and make sport part of their everyday routines.
Dhoni shared the message at an event alongside writer Javed Akhtar, where the pair were asked what advice they would offer younger generations facing difficult circumstances and emotional pressures. Akhtar praised young people’s values, saying older generations should be open to learning from them. Dhoni focused on physical well-being and the effects of modern routines.
A warning about sedentary routines
Dhoni contrasted the more physically active habits of earlier generations with a contemporary routine in which people may travel by car, sit for much of the working day and return home with little exercise. He warned that limited movement, combined with frequent fast food and sugary or fried meals, can contribute to health problems over time.
His point was that the consequences may not be immediate: an inactive lifestyle can become more apparent later in life, including after the age of 30. Dhoni’s practical recommendation was to make regular physical activity and sport a habit, alongside healthier food choices.
The message was a reminder that looking after long-term health takes consistent effort, even amid the demands and pressures of modern life.
