Spalletti issues ruthless warning to Juventus squad ahead of Serie A opener at Frosinone
Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti has issued a stern warning to his squad ahead of their Serie A season opener against newly promoted Frosinone, declaring that anyone failing to meet expectations will quickly find themselves replaced in an intensely competitive league landscape.

The Bianconeri are eager to bounce back from a turbulent 2025-26 campaign where they slipped out of the Champions League race in the closing weeks and finished sixth. Spalletti, who took the helm midway through last term following the departure of Igor Tudor, has overseen a busy summer retooling the squad.
New arrivals in Turin include goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, forward Randal Kolo Muani, Kerim Alajbegovic, Zeki Celik, and Jhon Lucumi. Despite the new faces, Spalletti made it clear in his pre-match press conference that past reputations count for little.
Spalletti: 'The bell has rung'
"The bell has rung, the season has started, and whoever isn't ready will feel themselves getting pushed towards the exit," Spalletti warned. "Teams are always evolving, so players must be prepared to go with that flow."
"There are seven or eight teams who can challenge for the top four, and last season we missed out. We've got to prove ourselves and become a balanced team. We have improved, but only the results will show us how much we've improved."
Spalletti also acknowledged the formidable competition across Serie A, noting the heavy investments and existing quality across rival contenders.
"In general, we've had a good transfer market; some areas need a few cosmetic changes, others entire restoration projects," he added. "We had a good transfer strategy and are in a position to do more, but Milan made good investments, Inter and Napoli were already strong, Roma signed important players. They are all up there and have the same ambition, we all want to win many games."
Spalletti also took time to congratulate their opening-day hosts: "I want to congratulate Frosinone on returning to Serie A and my friend Massimiliano Alvini for the work he did to achieve promotion."
Key Figures and Match Outlook
Frosinone will pose a threat through key midfielder Giacomo Calo, who produced an outstanding 10 goals and 15 assists in Serie B last season. Calo and Bayern Munich's Michael Olise (15 goals, 19 assists) were the only two players across Europe's top five leagues and their respective second tiers to hit double figures in both metrics.
For Juventus, Randal Kolo Muani is poised to play a central role after completing a permanent switch from Paris Saint-Germain following a loan spell at Tottenham. The French forward boasts an impressive strike rate in Italian football, scoring a goal every 146 minutes across his previous stint with Juventus while recording a 31% shot conversion rate.
Juventus travel to the Stadio Benito Stirpe with an emphatic historical record on their side, having won their last five Serie A encounters with Frosinone by an aggregate score of 12-3. The Turin giants have also won 13 of their last 15 opening-day Serie A matches, keeping clean sheets in each of the last four.
