Sky Sports Launches 'Grid Insider' to Discover Fresh Talent from F1's Social Community

Sky Sports has launched "Grid Insider", its first-ever nationwide competition to discover a standout content creator from the heart of Formula 1's vibrant social media community. Announced ahead of the 2026 F1 season opener at the Australian Grand Prix, the initiative seeks to bring a fresh, passionate voice onto the biggest stage in motorsport broadcasting: Sky Sports F1.

A Spoof Audition to Kick Things Off

To launch the campaign, Sky has released a humorous spoof audition tape featuring legendary F1 broadcaster Martin Brundle, former world champion Jenson Button, and Sky presenters Natalie Pinkham and Bernie Collins. The video also includes social media star Anthony Capaldi (aka "Mr. Capaldi") and nods to fan-favorite F1 moments, poking fun at typical creator audition reels while showcasing the creativity the network is looking for.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity

The winning creator will enjoy a one-off role during the 2026 Formula 1 season with exclusive opportunities, including:

  • Presenting a segment on The F1 Show
  • Hosting an episode of Paddock Pass on Sky Sports F1’s social platforms
  • Guesting on The F1 Show Podcast
  • Hosting an official Sky Sports F1 Watch Party for a Grand Prix
  • Experiencing a behind-the-scenes race weekend access pass

How to Enter

Aspiring creators can apply now by visiting skysportsgridinsider.sky.com, where they must submit an entry explaining why they should be the first Grid Insider. A shortlist will be selected by the Sky Sports F1 team, after which finalists will be tasked with creating a sample piece of content.

Competitors can choose to deliver anything from a tactical breakdown worthy of Bernie Collins, a paddock tour in the style of Ted Kravitz, or even their own version of Martin Brundle’s famous gridwalk—perhaps even attempting to outdo Darren 'Crofty' Croft’s iconic "Lights out, and away we go!" call.

The winner will be decided by a public vote and announced live on Sky Sports F1 during the 2026 season.

Support from F1 Legends and Creators

Jenson Button, Sky Sports F1 expert, expressed excitement about the initiative: "The explosion of F1's popularity is in large part due to the growing creator and fan community. Sky Sports has launched this competition which is an unbelievable opportunity for a creator with passion and genuine knowledge of the sport to show that they can entertain, inform and deliver on the biggest stage."

He added, "I am really looking forward to seeing the creativity and personality creators bring, as well as welcoming the eventual winner to the team this season."

Bella James, a F1 content creator with three years of experience, welcomed the move: "It's brilliant to see Sky Sports opening the door to creators in a meaningful way. I would encourage anyone who loves the sport and has a passion for storytelling to put themselves forward."
