RB Leipzig chief Roger Schmidt rejects Nagelsmann rumours and backs boss Martin Demichelis

Schmidt quashes Nagelsmann talk

Former Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann has been linked with a return to RB Leipzig, but Red Bull football chief Roger Schmidt has rejected those rumours, according to Sky Sports Germany.

Instead, Schmidt has publicly backed current boss Martin Demichelis, making clear that the club's hierarchy retains faith in its head coach despite the speculation.

The intervention is designed to draw a line under the talk, and it suggests Leipzig have no intention of making a change in the dugout. For Nagelsmann, it means the door in Leipzig — at least for now — remains firmly closed, leaving the former Germany boss to consider other options should he wish to return to club management.
