Forest Green Rovers to run without a manager after Robbie Savage's Peterborough exit

Forest Green Rovers to operate without a manager after Robbie Savage's exit

Forest Green Rovers owner Dale Vince has confirmed his club will operate without a single manager or head coach following the departure of Robbie Savage to Peterborough United, telling reporters the club will simply "see what happens".

Paper Talk football headlines

The extraordinary admission, reported by The Athletic, comes after Savage's long-anticipated move to League One was finalised. The former Wales international had been given permission to speak to Peterborough over the vacant manager's job on 28 September, and talkSPORT reported on 30 September that he was primed to leave his National League role to take charge at London Road.

Savage's switch sees him trade the National League for League One, marking a fresh chapter in his managerial career. Rather than immediately appoint a successor, Vince appears prepared to let the club run without a designated boss.

"[The club are going to operate] without a single manager or head coach and see what happens," Vince said, according to The Athletic.

Forest Green had earlier confirmed that Savage would not be in the dugout for a home game against Wealdstone as talks with Peterborough advanced, and the move has now been completed.
