Tijjani Reijnders admits Al Qadisah move was driven by money
Reijnders on transfer motivation
Tijjani Reijnders has made a rare admission that money was a key factor in his summer move from Manchester City to Saudi Arabian club Al Qadisah, saying the reported €100m deal over four years will set up his family for life.
The midfielder was quoted in the Football Daily newsletter on the rationale behind the switch: "You can always play the moralist, but I think everyone would say yes to that. I don’t want to have to work any more after my career. I didn’t need to after City either, but now I can also set up future generations of my family well. If this choice means my grandchildren can also live comfortably, why wouldn’t I do it?"
Reijnders’ candid comments come as the Saudi Pro League continues to attract established European talent with lucrative contracts, with Al Qadisah signing the Dutch international after his spell with Manchester City.
