Lawson scores 10 in Singapore but remains unsure of 2027 Racing Bulls seat

A strong Singapore weekend, but no seat guarantee

Liam Lawson scored 10 points across the Sprint and Grand Prix at Singapore’s Marina Bay circuit, yet remained uncertain whether the results would be enough to keep his Racing Bulls seat for 2027.

Formula 1 action at the Singapore Grand Prix

After qualifying eighth, Lawson avoided the spinning McLarens on the final lap of Saturday’s Sprint to finish fifth in challenging wet-and-dry conditions. He then reached Q3 for the Grand Prix, made early overtakes and held off Nico Hulkenberg and George Russell to take eighth.

“Very happy and very proud of the team,” Lawson said, noting that the squad had scored in all three races of the recent run. Asked whether his Singapore showing would help him secure a place next season, he replied: “You tell me!” He added that his focus was on scoring each weekend and continuing to build.

Racing Bulls weighing its options

Team principal Alan Permane said a decision on the 2027 line-up would come “in the coming weeks.” Lawson is among the candidates, alongside team-mate Arvid Lindblad and Formula 2 driver Nikola Tsolov.

Lindblad left Singapore without points after a difficult opening lap dropped him from 10th to 15th. He said he needed to review his start and work with the team to understand why recent weekends had proved more difficult, adding that he did not feel he had been at his full form.
