Jeremy Doku extends Manchester City stay until 2031 with new five-year contract
Jeremy Doku commits to Manchester City with new five-year deal
Jeremy Doku has signed a new five-year contract with Manchester City, extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium until June 2031. The 24-year-old Belgian winger, who joined City in summer 2023 from Rennes for £55.5m (€65m), has committed his future to the club following a positive 2025-26 campaign.
An impressive record at City
Since joining Manchester City, Doku has become one of the Premier League's most dynamic attacking talents. In three seasons under Pep Guardiola, the winger has made 131 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals and providing 29 assists. He has already won several major honours including one Premier League title, one FA Cup, one EFL Cup, the Community Shield, and the Club World Cup.
Doku's statistics highlight his exceptional creativity and dribbling ability. Among Manchester City players, he has recorded more assists than any other player since his arrival (29), while only Erling Haaland (128) and Phil Foden (74) have directly contributed to more goals. Across the Premier League, Doku has completed the most dribbles since his debut (278) and recorded the most take-on ending carries (311), with 136 created chances also ranking fourth-most among Premier League forwards.
Doku's reaction to the new deal
Speaking about his contract extension, Doku expressed his commitment and appreciation for the club. "I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling," he said. "This club means so much to me – I have developed as both a player and a person. I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff here do."
The winger also praised the club's development system: "It's hard to explain just how much this club does to help players. I don't take it for granted and it makes me better."
Excitement under new management
With Enzo Maresca now at the helm of Manchester City, Doku is particularly enthusiastic about the future. "With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that's exciting for the players," he explained.
Doku also highlighted the importance of Manchester City's supporters in his decision to stay. "The City fans are also a huge reason I have signed this new contract. I feel their love and support, and it means the world to me. I want to focus on bringing them the success they deserve," he concluded.
