Udinese humbled 3-0 by Lecce as Runjaic's side suffer fifth straight Serie A defeat

Udinese 0-3 Lecce

Kosta Runjaic’s Udinese fell to a fifth straight Serie A defeat on Sunday afternoon as Lecce earned a comfortable 3-0 victory at the Bluenergy Stadium. The win lifts Lecce temporarily to 11th, while Udinese slip to 17th on just four points from their opening seven matches of the 2026-27 campaign.

Set-pieces seal the win for Lecce

Udinese have started the 2026-27 season in troubling form with just four points picked up from their first seven matches. They arrived at the clash on the back of consecutive defeats against Torino, Cagliari, Inter and Lazio.

Lecce had also lost their two previous matches against Bologna and Milan heading into Sunday’s game, but began the afternoon two points better off than their opponents.

Lecce made use of their strong aerial threat to get off the mark away. Kiolonda Gaspar rose highest in the penalty area to nod in Antonino Gallo’s corner after 11 minutes. It was the Angolan’s first goal in the Italian top flight.

Another set-piece doubled the visitors’ lead shortly after the half hour mark. The corner came in from the opposite wing and Gaspar got his head to it again at the far post, knocking the ball back into the middle of the area for Konan N’Dri to convert via a deflection in the 33rd minute, assisted by Tiago Gabriel.

Jan Piotrowski had the ball in the back of the net for Udinese, converting with his first touch after a low ball into the area, but was promptly flagged for offside.

Siebert finishes off the rout

Lecce were cruising towards victory in the final stages when they were gifted a third goal to put the result beyond any doubt. Jurgen Ekkelenkamp was cheaply dismissed just beyond the half-way line, which allowed Jamil Siebert to nick the ball and carry it all the way into the area before finishing brilliantly into the roof of the net for 3-0 in the 86th minute.

Today’s result sends Lecce temporarily up to 11th place in the Serie A standings, whilst Udinese, increasingly under pressure in the early stages of 2026-27, have slipped into 17th place on just four points after seven games, and will end the weekend in the relegation zone if Fiorentina pick up a point at home against Como on Sunday afternoon.
