Yadav and Lamba fall six short of double centuries after 338-run stand
Jaipur, October 19, 2026 — Sachin Yadav and Karan Lamba each missed a double century by six runs after sharing a 338-run partnership that put Rajasthan in command of their Ranji Trophy Group D match against Railways.
Resuming at 247 for two, the pair extended Rajasthan’s control before both departed on 194. Yadav faced 358 deliveries, striking 22 fours and four sixes; Lamba’s 284-ball innings included 19 fours and two sixes. Rajasthan were eventually dismissed for 497.
Lamba, playing his 11th first-class match, brought up his third Ranji Trophy hundred. The two batters, who trained together for years at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Academy, built their stand through patient defence and fluent strokeplay. “We know each other's strengths,” Lamba said. “Our communication was very easy because we have played cricket together for years.”
The new ball briefly tested the pair in the morning, with edges carrying and Railways missing chances in the field. After the threat eased, Yadav and Lamba resumed scoring freely. Both fell six runs short of the landmark: Yadav was stumped and Lamba was caught at point. “It was on my mind a little bit, but not too much,” Lamba said of the double century.
Rajasthan’s bowlers then made an early inroad. Left-arm spinner Mohit Changra trapped Vivek Singh lbw, and Railways reached stumps on 46 for one, trailing by 451. Debutant pacer Danish Bhambu impressed with disciplined bowling, supported by Chetan Sharma and Akash Singh. Lamba described the surface as unusually favourable for batting: “You rarely get wickets like this in domestic cricket. The pitch was favoring batting. I tried to stay put and play a long innings.”
