Lawson reflects on turnaround 12 months on from mid-2025 struggles

Twelve months ago at the midway point of the 2025 campaign Liam Lawson was settling back in at Racing Bulls after a difficult start to the year with Red Bull. He had endured a tricky opening two rounds with the senior team before being moved back to the junior squad, leaving the second half of 2025 a period of reset and readjustment.

Fast forward to the same stage of the current campaign and the picture is transformed. Just ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix and the sport’s summer break, F1.com sat down with Lawson for an exclusive interview on the factors behind his strong run in 2026.

Standout form and a rising Racing Bulls

Lawson has emerged as one of the standout drivers of the first half of 2026. The Racing Bulls squad has performed at a consistently high level, climbing to the head of the midfield and threatening to close in on the top four teams.
