2026 Formula 1 Drivers' Championship: The Standings So Far

The 2026 Formula 1 season is underway, and the official Drivers' Championship standings are taking shape with an Italian driver leading the way on 219 points. The early season has produced a tightly contested battle at the top of the order, with just 50 points separating the leader from the third-placed challenger.

A British contingent closes in

The gap at the summit is notable, but the chasing pack is led by a strong British presence. Two British drivers occupy second and third place on 169 and 160 points respectively, keeping the championship leader within reach as the season progresses. A fourth-placed Monegasque driver rounds out the leading group on 138 points, followed by a third British representative in fifth on 128 points.

Midfield battles

The midfield is tightly packed, with a Dutch driver in sixth on 109 points and an Australian in seventh on 92. A French driver holds eighth with 68 points, while New Zealand (43) and France (42) complete the top ten. Positions 11 through 15 see further representation across Great Britain (23), Argentina (19), Great Britain (18), Brazil (10) and Spain (6).

Points positions and the tail of the grid

Points-paying positions are rounded out by Thailand (5), France (3), Germany (2) and Spain (1) in 16th through 19th. At the back of the field, drivers representing Canada, Finland and Mexico currently sit on zero points, all looking to open their accounts as the championship rolls on. With such a closely bunched leaderboard, every round promises to shift the balance of the title fight.
