Anvay Dravid’s 151 powers Karnataka chase as Aaryavir Sehwag’s 173 goes in vain
Anvay Dravid leads Karnataka to a record chase
Anvay Dravid hit 151 from 100 balls to help Karnataka chase Gujarat’s target of 358 with five wickets to spare in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy Elite tournament. The 17-year-old captain shared a decisive 204-run third-wicket stand with Dhruv Krishnan, who was dismissed in the 38th over.
After Krishnan’s departure, Anvay added 61 with Aniketh Reddy before falling in the 44th over. Aniketh and Tejas Reddy then finished the chase. Rohith Reddy and Nitish Arya had made 30 for the opening wicket, while Krishnan and Rohith added 33 before Rohith was out.
Gujarat recovered from an early setback through partnerships in the middle and lower order. Shaurya Pancholi and Ved Patel put on 66 for the second wicket, and Sameer Bhandari later shared a 217-run fifth-wicket stand with Yash Panjwani to lift Gujarat to 357. Sameer had earlier added 40 with Kush Patel.
Anvay, the younger son of former India cricketer Rahul Dravid, is captaining Karnataka in the tournament. He had scored 85 from 41 balls in the team’s previous match against Delhi. He made his India Under-19 debut against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka last November.
Aaryavir Sehwag’s big innings cannot save Delhi
In another Vinoo Mankad Trophy Elite match, Aaryavir Sehwag scored 173 from 143 balls for Delhi, but Chandigarh chased down a target of 290 to win by five wickets in the 42nd over.
Delhi finished on 289 for six after batting first, with opener Arnav Bugga contributing 47 alongside Aaryavir. Chandigarh’s chase was led by Rupesh Yadav, who made 167 from 125 balls, striking 23 fours and five sixes.
Aaryavir, 18, is the elder son of former India opener Virender Sehwag and captains Delhi in the tournament. He made his India Under-19 debut against Australia in Rajkot in September.
