Victor Munoz calls learning from Lamine Yamal a privilege as Spain rivals push each other
Munoz embraces competition with Spain teammate Yamal
Victor Munoz says he is learning from Lamine Yamal as the Spain teammates compete for a place on the same wing. The Liverpool player described working alongside the Barcelona star as “a privilege”, adding that the pair are friends and spend a lot of time together.

“I try to learn a lot from him; he’s a good friend of mine and we spend a lot of time together,” Munoz said. “It’s a privilege for me and he helps me a lot in my day-to-day life.”
Yamal has scored three goals and supplied one assist in Spain’s current Nations League campaign during the international break, according to the report. Munoz also featured against Croatia. Both were included in Spain’s World Cup-winning squad in the summer, although Munoz missed the tournament through injury.
Munoz focused on bringing his own strengths
Munoz said Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has encouraged him to play his natural game and contribute at both ends of the pitch. “Try to help the team in attack and defence, try to be direct and try one-on-one. Those are what I think are my strengths,” he said.
The 23-year-old joined Liverpool in a reported £35 million (€40 million) move during the summer. In the 2026-27 season, he has scored once in six appearances for the club, three of them starts; his goal was an equaliser against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Munoz said the change of league has brought a different kind of challenge. “I do notice a difference between LaLiga and the Premier League,” he said. “LaLiga is more tactical, the Premier League is more physical. The intensity of the training sessions there is very high and it's helping me grow.”
