Juventus 0-3 Lazio: Danish duo Provstgaard and Isaksen stun Old Lady as Gattuso's side go joint top

Lazio delivered arguably their most complete performance of the season on Sunday, breezing past a lacklustre Juventus 3-0 at the Allianz Stadium to stay level on 19 points with Inter at the top of Serie A.

Having watched Inter pull ahead with a 3-1 win over Bologna on Saturday, Gennaro Gattuso's unbeaten side answered emphatically, joining the Nerazzurri at the summit — and handing the hosts a painful afternoon in Turin.

Kolo Muani denied as Lazio edge ahead

Kerim Alajbegovic, the only change to Juventus' team, fired off the game's first shot in the fifth minute, but his swerving attempt was watched and well held by Christos Mandas. Juventus then had the ball in the net when Randal Kolo Muani volleyed home, but his joy was short-lived — the offside flag on the far side was raised, the Frenchman having strayed just behind the Lazio defence when Douglas Luiz's deflected effort fell kindly to him. Kolo Muani also had the ball in the net on 24 minutes only after wandering into an offside position on a Nico Gonzalez flick, and later failed to get on the end of the Argentina international's free kick at the back post.

Lazio had failed to trouble Guglielmo Vicario in the first half, but it was the visitors who took the lead eight minutes before the break. Mattia Zaccagni whipped a dangerous delivery into the box, with Oliver Provstgaard glancing his header into the bottom-right corner from six yards between Gleison Bremer and Jhon Lucumi.

The visitors nearly doubled their advantage in the 44th minute, but Nuno Tavares' shot with his right foot deflected off Juventus captain Bremer and onto the top of the crossbar.

Isaksen bends in the killer blow

Marco Domenichini, who replaced the suspended Luciano Spalletti in the Juventus dugout, turned to his bench at the break and introduced Nick Woltemade. The on-loan Newcastle United striker almost made an immediate impact, moving Juve to a 4-4-2, but he could not force Mandas into action after being picked out by Kolo Muani, prodding wide of the near post.

Gustav Isaksen celebrates after curling Lazio's second goal past Juventus

Juventus were made to pay for that missed chance just after the hour. Gustav Isaksen took down Nuno Tavares' crossfield switch, benefited from a Romano Floriani Mussolini run that drew away Zeki Celik, cut inside and curled a left-foot finish into the bottom-left corner.

The hosts struggled to get themselves back in contention. Kolo Muani headed over from six yards out, while Bosko Sutalo did well to prevent a Pierre Kalulu cross reaching Woltemade and Francisco Conceicao's curler was too predictable to trouble Mandas. Their misery was compounded in the 89th minute when substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru's driving run from inside his own half ended with an arrowed strike past Vicario into the bottom corner to seal the win, with Andrea Pinamonti credited with the assist.

Juventus left to ponder

For Spalletti — watching on under a touchline ban following his altercation with Cagliari coach Fabio Pisacane — there will be plenty to contemplate, with Juventus already eight points off leaders Inter. Kenan Yildiz, Manuel Locatelli, Khephren Thuram, Jeff Ekhator and Kamil Grabara were still unavailable, with Jeremie Boga back on the bench.

Juventus did, however, win the expected goals battle, registering 0.78 from their nine attempts compared to Lazio's 0.53 from the same number of shots. It was a statistic of little comfort — this was Lazio's first Serie A victory in Turin since October 2017, and a result that suggests Gattuso's side are no fluke this season.
