Forest's Home Hoodoo Deepens as Glasner Insists 'The Results Will Come'
A third straight defeat and still no home goal
Nottingham Forest's wait for a first home win of the season continues after Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the City Ground, a result that leaves Oliver Glasner's side still searching for a home league goal this campaign.
Along with Schalke, Forest are one of just two sides without a home league goal in Europe's top five leagues this season. They are also only the fifth side in English top-flight history to fail to score in their first four home matches of a campaign, following West Brom in 1921-22, Everton in 1998-99, Crystal Palace in 2018-19 and Huddersfield Town in 2018-19.
A FotMob table snapshot fetched on 2026-10-18 had Forest sitting 18th in the Premier League on five points from seven games, with a goal difference of -4.
Noni Madueke's 80th-minute deflected winner, which went in off Jair Cunha, settled a game in which Forest had defended resiliently and created chances of their own, with Chris Wood and Murillo both going close late on.
Glasner: 'Feels a bit weird'
Despite the frustration, Glasner chose to focus on the positives from his side's display against the reigning Premier League champions.
"Very tough to take, bit of deja vu," the Forest boss told BBC Match of the Day. "Many things here we feel the result is unfair but it's what stands and it's zero points at home. Very good performance against the champions. We caused many problems, didn't give them a lot and at the end we have zero points.
"Feels a bit weird to have a third defeat in a row but I see progress in every game and today the effort was amazing — it was just the result we can't be pleased with.
"Now it is how we deal with the situation and react as a team and just how we can change this is by staying positive, sticking together and working hard.
"And having this coolness, not to worry too much because I can see good performances and not good results. The results will come if the performances stay good."
Glasner's pre-match warning about the size of the task
The scale of the challenge facing Forest was something Glasner had already acknowledged before kick-off. In pre-match comments reported on 2026-10-17, he was generous in his assessment of Arsenal and of the team Mikel Arteta has assembled.
"It's huge credit to Mikel Arteta and Arsenal. It's now a team that has been built over years and always at the beginning finding a core and then always adding the right pieces," Glasner said.
"It's not just the quality, it's also the mentality in how they play. I think in every game this season they were outrunning the opposition. It's incredible. The effort, the mindset Mikel created there is incredible."
With no home goal to show for their efforts so far, Forest's immediate task is to convert promising performances into points before the wait becomes an even heavier burden.
