Amorim says he rejected clubs’ bids for Milan defender Estupinan
Ruben Amorim has taken responsibility for Pervis Estupinan remaining at Milan, revealing that he turned down approaches from several clubs during the summer transfer window.

“We had a list of clubs that wanted him, but I said no,” Amorim said at a press conference on Sunday. The coach said he wanted supporters to understand that keeping the Ecuador international was his decision, adding: “I believe in him, and I’m convinced he’ll be really important for our team.”
Villa had been linked with a move
Aston Villa were reported to have held talks with Milan at various points during the previous campaign, with reports at the time saying the Premier League club were prepared to offer €19 million. Amorim did not identify all the clubs that made enquiries, but confirmed there had been multiple suitors.
Amorim urges support for Estupinan
Estupinan has faced criticism from some Milan supporters, despite being a semi-regular starter under Amorim. The coach called on fans and teammates to support the defender, saying: “If a teammate suffers for this, the whole team suffers with him and supports him.”
The 28-year-old came on as a substitute in Milan’s 3-2 win over Atalanta on Sunday. He has made seven appearances in all competitions this season. Estupinan is in his second season at Milan following his €18.3 million transfer from Brighton in 2025.
